About the Instructor

Trendz Barber Academy is operated and led by Master Instructor Jason “Jay” Estrada.

Originally from Post, Texas, Jay relocated to Lubbock, Texas in 2003. He holds a Class A Barber License and has been licensed and actively engaged in the barbering profession since 2008. His professional background includes extensive experience as a practicing barber, instructor, and business operator within the barbering industry.

Over the course of his career, Jay has owned and operated multiple barbering establishments in Lubbock, Texas. In these roles, he was responsible for overseeing daily operations, supervising licensed barbers, maintaining service and sanitation standards, and managing business functions. Through this experience, he gained comprehensive insight into the operational, technical, and professional expectations of the barbering field.

In addition to business operations, Jay consistently served as a mentor and informal instructor to barbers at various stages of their careers. His leadership responsibilities included skill development, professional guidance, and performance oversight, allowing him to identify the competencies and work ethic necessary for success in both shop-based and instructional environments.

This combination of practical industry experience and mentorship led Jay to transition into formal barber education. He established Trendz Barber Academy to provide structured, hands-on instruction and professional development to individuals seeking licensure and employment in the barbering profession. The Academy reflects his commitment to instructional quality, regulatory compliance, and preparing students for long-term success within the industry.
